HCDHA PRESIDENT
SHELLEY BERGHOLCS, RDH, BASDH
I am honored to serve as the president of HCDHA. I am lucky to work with very dedicated, professional, and caring officers who work many hours to provide you with great CE meetings throughout the year. We welcome all hygienists from the Tamp Bay area to attend our meetings. It’s a great way to meet other dedicated professionals, build a strong network, and make some wonderful friends.
These are exciting times for Florida dental hygienists. New laws allow us to perform screenings, apply fluoride varnishes, and to educate the public about how important good oral hygiene habits are. Our communities can benefit from our willingness to serve them. By volunteering our time, skills, and knowledge we can reach a greater population. We really can make a difference in their oral health. Nothing feels better than giving back. Just try it, you’ll like it!
On a personal note, I am a second generation Floridian. I am happily married to my wonderful husband Andy. We have four –legged children, our two English Bulldogs, and our “Society” (humane society) kitties. I graduated from SPJC with my A.S. in 1991. I earned my B.A.S.D.H. from SPC in 2008. Going back to school after so many years really re-kindled my passion for dental hygiene. I wanted to get involved, so I decided to become an active ADHA member instead of sitting on the sidelines. I was excited and nervous when I was elected president of HCDHA. I still am. My goal is to see our local component grow and get stronger. We have some really fantastic members. I also wish to serve our community through volunteerism. I find it so rewarding.
The ADHA is our professional organization. It strives hard to advance our profession. Your membership will provide you with many free CE credits, or reduced fee credits. It will enrich your professional life. It’s fun! It’s rewarding! It’s the right thing to do!
